Convert GIF to PSD online. See the real animated-frame image encoding behavior, preservation limits, and a format-specific acceptance test.
Converter.now decodes the GIF frame sequence, timing, disposal, and canvas, then maps those frames into the animation and color rules available to PSD. A successful first frame does not prove that the complete loop survived. GIF decoding reconstructs indexed-color frames from local palettes, disposal instructions, transparent indices, and centisecond timing values. PSD output aims to retain a Photoshop-style composite and editable layers, masks, channels, effects, text, and color data instead of only one flattened bitmap.
Decoded canvas - A frame animation or indexed-color image limited to a 256-color palette. Written image - A Photoshop document that can contain layers, masks, channels, type, and adjustment data.
Used for short animations and simple graphics.
Designed for pixel-based artwork, scans, and photographs.
Choose PSD when its particular balance of compatibility, alpha, animation, and file size matches the destination better than GIF.
Photographs and gradients can band, semi-transparent edges are reduced, and timing may be quantized.
Most non-PSD outputs flatten layers, while unsupported smart objects or effects may render differently.
The writer builds a Photoshop document that can contain layers, masks, channels, type, and adjustment data and labels the result as image/vnd.adobe.photoshop. The receiving application - Not the extension alone - Is the final compatibility test.
Play the full loop and inspect color banding, disposal between frames, transparency, and the loop seam.
Open the result in the intended editor and inspect layer count, masks, typography, blend modes, and canvas size.
