To convert GIF to BMP, upload the GIF file, start the conversion and download the result: Converter.now writes an uncompressed 24-bit BMP. BMP cannot animate, so only the first frame is kept. BMP has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white.
Converter.now decodes the GIF frame sequence, timing, disposal, and canvas, then maps those frames into the animation and color rules available to BMP. A successful first frame does not prove that the complete loop survived. GIF decoding reconstructs indexed-color frames from local palettes, disposal instructions, transparent indices, and centisecond timing values. BMP output writes a single flat pixel surface with an explicit row order and color depth, built for simple bitmap interchange rather than layers or multiple resolutions.
Canvas decoded from a frame animation or indexed-color image limited to a 256-color palette. Image written as a broadly understood bitmap with straightforward pixel storage and little compression.

Background reading: why the file you keep differs from the file you send covers which copy to preserve and which to share.
Used for short animations and simple graphics.
Designed for pixel-based artwork, scans, and photographs.
Choose BMP when its particular balance of compatibility, alpha, animation, and file size matches the destination better than GIF.
Photographs and gradients can band, semi-transparent edges are reduced, and timing may be quantized.
BMP derivatives are often much larger than web images and may encode alpha or row order differently between apps.
a broadly understood bitmap with straightforward pixel storage and little compression is what gets written, labeled as image/bmp. Whether that actually opens depends on the receiving application, not on the file extension.
Play the full loop and inspect color banding, disposal between frames, transparency, and the loop seam.
Confirm dimensions, color depth, orientation, and whether the receiving app reads transparency.
