Convert VSD to PDF online and see exactly what artwork placement into document pages changes, what PDF still can't promise, and how to verify the result.
Converter.now renders the VSD artwork and places that visual result into the page-oriented PDF structure. This creates a document derivative; it does not infer paragraphs or restore editable source objects. VSD import uses a legacy Visio document filter to reconstruct pages, masters, shapes, connectors, layers, shape data, units, and embedded OLE objects. Composing fixed pages from text, vectors, and images is what PDF output does; searchable text, fonts, links, forms, tags, page boxes, and print rendering all still need checking separately.
Starting model: a legacy binary Microsoft Visio drawing containing pages, masters, shapes, connectors, text, and data fields. Rendered result: fixed pages containing text, vectors, raster images, links, forms, and other document objects.
Used for resolution-independent line art and technical drawings.
Designed for layout-preserving documents.
Modern converters can change master inheritance, connector routing, custom properties, layers, and embedded OLE objects.
Conversion can rasterize searchable text, alter page boxes, omit forms, or change font rendering.
fixed pages containing text, vectors, raster images, links, forms, and other document objects is what gets written, labeled as application/pdf. Whether that actually opens depends on the receiving application, not on the file extension.
PDF makes sense once VSD needs to travel as a page - Review, printing, document exchange. If the artwork still needs pixel- or path-level edits, keep an image or vector master instead.
Compare every page and inspect masters, shape count, connectors, text, layers, data fields, units, and print layout.
Review every page size plus searchable text, links, forms, fonts, and print output.
