Convert RWL to JPG online. See the real camera-raw development and image encoding behavior, preservation limits, and a format-specific acceptance test.
The sensor-oriented RWL data is developed into display pixels using demosaicing, white balance, tone, orientation, and color interpretation before JPG encoding. That makes the result a rendered photograph, not another untouched camera negative. The Leica RWL path selects the camera profile and recorded crop before interpreting sensor samples, lens metadata, orientation, and capture color. JPG delivery writes opaque, lossy photographic pixels; quality must be judged around high-contrast edges, gradients, fine texture, orientation, and repeated-encode damage.
Canvas decoded from Leica camera raw sensor data related to, but not interchangeable with, every DNG workflow. Image written as lossy JPEG-compressed pixels optimized for photographs and broad compatibility.
Used for storing the camera's native sensor capture before editing.
Designed for photos and compact web images.
Choose JPG when its particular balance of compatibility, alpha, animation, and file size matches the destination better than RWL.
Leica color profiles, lens corrections, and embedded crop intent may not transfer to a generic renderer.
Repeated encoding introduces ringing or blocks, and transparent areas must become opaque.
lossy JPEG-compressed pixels optimized for photographs and broad compatibility is what gets written, labeled as image/jpeg. Whether that actually opens depends on the receiving application, not on the file extension.
Inspect neutral color, red response, lens geometry, crop, highlight detail, and EXIF against a Leica reference.
View text edges, faces, gradients, and high-contrast detail at the intended display size.
