A high efficiency image container often carrying phone photos, metadata, and multiple image items is decoded into a working pixel canvas first, then written back out under GIF's own color and compression model. Dimensions can stay exactly the same even as encoding, metadata, and fine detail change underneath. HEIC reading selects the primary HEVC-coded image and follows orientation, grid, color, alpha, depth, burst, thumbnail, and metadata item relationships. Because GIF reduces every frame to an indexed palette with only on/off transparency, quality here comes down to color selection, dithering, disposal, timing, and the loop seam — with no audio at all.
