Convert CR3 to PSD online. See the real camera-raw development and image encoding behavior, preservation limits, and a format-specific acceptance test.
Demosaicing, white balance, tone, orientation, and color interpretation all run against the sensor-oriented CR3 data before PSD encoding even starts. What comes out is a rendered photograph, never another untouched camera negative. The CR3 reader traverses an ISO Base Media package rather than the older CR2 layout, then selects the primary Canon raw item and its metadata associations. PSD output aims to retain a Photoshop-style composite and editable layers, masks, channels, effects, text, and color data instead of only one flattened bitmap.
Canvas decoded from Canon raw image data stored in the newer ISO Base Media container. Image written as a Photoshop document that can contain layers, masks, channels, type, and adjustment data.
Used for carrying minimally processed sensor output for a raw workflow.
Designed for pixel-based artwork, scans, and photographs.
Choose PSD when its particular balance of compatibility, alpha, animation, and file size matches the destination better than CR3.
Software that reads CR2 may still reject CR3, and camera-specific dual-pixel or lens data may be ignored.
Most non-PSD outputs flatten layers, while unsupported smart objects or effects may render differently.
The writer builds a Photoshop document that can contain layers, masks, channels, type, and adjustment data and labels the result as image/vnd.adobe.photoshop. The receiving application - Not the extension alone - Is the final compatibility test.
Open a representative CR3 from the same camera and compare color, crop, highlights, and lens correction.
Open the result in the intended editor and inspect layer count, masks, typography, blend modes, and canvas size.
