The sensor-oriented SR2 data is developed into display pixels using demosaicing, white balance, tone, orientation, and color interpretation before TIFF encoding. That makes the result a rendered photograph, not another untouched camera negative. The older Sony SR2 reader uses generation-specific maker data and a matching body profile before converting its sensor array into full-color pixels. TIFF output can describe high-bit-depth pixels, alpha, varied compression, and multiple image directories, but the chosen writer profile determines which of those features is present.
