The sensor-oriented RAF data is developed into display pixels using demosaicing, white balance, tone, orientation, and color interpretation before TIFF encoding. That makes the result a rendered photograph, not another untouched camera negative. The RAF reader accounts for the Fujifilm sensor arrangement and camera metadata before demosaicing, cropping, and mapping the capture into display color. TIFF supports high-bit-depth pixels, alpha, varied compression, and multiple image directories, but which of those the destination file actually uses depends on the writer profile chosen.
