Converter.now selects the audio stream in TS, leaves the picture stream out, and encodes that sound as FLAC. The result is audio, not a silent copy of the video. A TS can carry several programs, audio languages, captions, and discontinuities that a primary-stream conversion leaves behind.
FLAC does not make a lossy source lossless again, and some basic players reject less common sample rates or channel layouts.
