Only the audio stream inside OGV is pulled out - The picture stream is discarded entirely - And encoded as FLAC. What comes out is genuine audio, never a muted copy of the video. The OGV reader reconstructs Ogg pages into Theora video and Vorbis audio packets, using their separate granule positions to recover synchronized playback timing. FLAC output losslessly codes decoded samples and supports rich comments, yet it cannot reconstruct fidelity already removed by a lossy source codec.
