Free MID to MKV conversion online, with the real audio-only container delivery behavior, what gets lost, and a concrete way to check the output.
MID audio is what actually exists here, and it gets encoded straight into a MKV media container. No artwork or motion is invented, so the resulting MKV file can carry no meaningful video stream at all. MID input is interpreted as timestamped musical events, tempo changes, programs, controllers, and channel messages - Not as recorded waveform samples. Matroska delivery can retain multiple timed tracks, languages, subtitles, chapters, and attachments, though simplified writers and browser players may use only a subset.
Decoded media - MIDI performance events describing notes, timing, controllers, programs, and channels rather than recorded sound. Encoded delivery profile - A flexible Matroska container capable of multiple audio, video, subtitle, and attachment streams.
Used for encoded audio covering music, speech, or effects.
Designed for flexible multi-track video storage.
Converting MIDI to audio requires a synthesizer and sound library; different instruments produce different audible results.
A simplified conversion may keep only primary streams, and many browsers do not play MKV directly.
The verified MKV profile uses H.264 video and Opus audio when those streams are present.
Inspect tempo, program changes, percussion channel, sustain, pitch bends, loop length, and the chosen rendered instruments.
Inspect the stream list, subtitles, language labels, chapters, seeking, and sync.
Use this route only when the receiving workflow specifically accepts audio inside MKV. It is not a music-visualizer or slideshow generator.
