Decoding FLAC recovers the waveform and channel layout it carries; writing AAC means re-expressing that under a different codec and container profile. Duration commonly survives untouched even while compression, channel mapping, cadence, metadata, or auxiliary streams do not. FLAC frames decode to lossless samples, but the stream can still carry unusual channel assignments, sample rates, cuesheets, and Vorbis-comment metadata. An AAC elementary-stream result carries coded audio frames without the richer tags, chapters, artwork, and track metadata of an M4A container.
