Converter.now decodes the waveform and channel layout carried by CAF, then writes the codec and container profile used for FLAC. Duration can remain identical while compression, channel mapping, frame cadence, metadata, or auxiliary streams change. Core Audio Format input derives sample description, packet table, channel layout, edit information, and data extent from independent CAF chunks. FLAC output losslessly codes decoded samples and supports rich comments, yet it cannot reconstruct fidelity already removed by a lossy source codec.
